Exotic Journey
The quilt artists in Columbia Stitchery Guild’s “High Fiber
Diet” art-quilt group decided to make quilts for a one-year
traveling show, to be called “Journeys.” All the quilts were the
same size. Twelve of us interpreted the theme, with wide-ranging
diversity. The quilts were exhibited in several venues including
the Latimer Textile Museum.
When I think of a “Journey,” my imagination always takes me to a
warmer place, with beautiful flowers, a fragrant warm breeze,
sunshine and nature’s never-ending beauty. Winged insects like
butterflies and dragonflies represent to me the unfolding of
something beautiful, and almost magical. Will this dragonfly
decide to visit the Bird-of-Paradise bloom, or continue to
explore? The dragonfly wings have an organza overlay and hand
beading.
