“Dreamweaving Stars"

This queen-size quilt pulls together a few of my favorite “things”—butterflies, orchids, ferns, Hawaiian Bird-of-Paradise flowers, and Southwest chili peppers—into “stars” under which to dream at night. The stars, each formed by six sixty-degree diamonds, were cut using the technique in Gail Valentine’s “Mirror Manipulations” book…utilizing two mirrors moved around on a print, like a kaleidoscope. This technique preceeded “Whack and Stack,” and the same “diamond print” had to be located six times on the fabric and cut individually.
