“Sweet Passion” - NFS
FiberArts Magazine, published in Loveland, Colorado, sponsored
a Valentine’s Day event this year by soliciting fiber postcards
that would be postmarked at “Love-Land” on February 14th.
Postcards had to be submitted by January 15th for a future
article. This postcard is pictured on Page 28 of their
April/May 2007 issue.
This postcard combines three printed cottons, organza, antique
satin, a peacock feather, tulle, buttons, a bead, and “magnetic
words.” The postcard was edged with satin stitching and then
embellished with an organza picot ribbon, folded in half and mitered onto the front
and the back with the center fold of the organza ribbon
extending beyond the postcard edge for added embellishment. The
red rose is highlighted with outline quilting, and some of the
quilting threads on cupid’s wings were left long to add to the
softness. A little red glass heart bead adorns cupid’s hand.
The postcard was mailed (without an envelope) to my sweetheart,
Phil (see the book), and it arrived in perfect condition! This
postcard will be displayed in a 5" x 7" shadow box frame and
offered for sale; contact Bonnie by email if you are interested. |
